Third Beatrice Offshore Windfarm contract awarded to Granada Material Handling

Granada have been awarded a third major contract to design, manufacture, deliver and commission davit cranes for the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL) project, this contract awarded by Burntisland Fabrications Limited.

Burntisland have been providing solutions for offshore energy industries since 1990 and this new contract will see Granada supplying 26 Python davit cranes, one to each of the Burntisland-supplied platforms. Burntisland say their £100m contract is protecting 200 jobs and, for their part in the project, Granada are already looking to place orders and to sub-contract specialist areas of work across their own UK-based supply chain of companies and contractors.

The Python cranes are a design unique to Granada and each unit is approximately 4 metres in height, 7.5 metres in radius, and each weigh 2000 kgs, with a maximum lifting capacity of 1250 kgs.

This brings the total number of Granada davit cranes commissioned for BOWL to 84 units, to-date, and this latest contract reflects our commitment to and investment in the growing renewables sector in the UK.”

The £2.6bn BOWL project is one of the largest private investments ever made in Scottish infrastructure, and Granada will be delivering these Python cranes over an 8-month period.
