Granada Cranes recently completed the design, manufacture and installation of a 34 tonne + 34 tonne double girder overhead travelling crane (OHTC) and gantry system for a new customer in Worcester. The project was part of a wider factory upgrade, with the crane built to handle high-capacity lifting demands in line with upcoming machinery installations.

Bespoke Engineering and Smart Safety
This crane was engineered with load summation technology, allowing either or both hoists to be used without exceeding a combined maximum load of 34 tonnes. This critical safety feature ensures compliance and operational safety when lifting heavy or irregularly shaped items, particularly during rotational handling or load turning.
The Cattron radio control system was customised with three joysticks — one for crane travel and one for each hoist — giving the operator full independent control. This setup supports precise manoeuvring, especially useful when turning or aligning components during assembly or installation processes.
Custom Finish & Full Access
Understanding the importance of branding and visual consistency, the customer requested a custom paint finish to match the colour scheme of the press machines being installed later in the year. The result is a crane system that not only performs exceptionally but also integrates visually into the wider factory environment.
To support ongoing maintenance and inspection, the crane includes a full-length catwalk/service platform with gate access and interlock safety switches, enhancing both ease of use and safety.
Power and Integration
The system is powered by our proven Granada Power Systems busbar, ensuring reliable and efficient power delivery across the full crane travel path. As always, this system was installed with performance and longevity in mind, reducing the risk of downtime and simplifying future servicing.
