Jib Crane Repairs & Servicing
Granada Cranes repairs and services jib cranes for workshops, production lines and loading bays across the UK. Pillar-mounted, wall-mounted and articulated jibs, from 80kg workstation cranes to heavy-duty slewing jibs, our engineers diagnose faults, repair slewing, hoist, brake and control problems, and keep jibs compliant, on all makes and models, whether we supplied them or not.
A jib crane that will not slew, will not lift, or has failed an inspection stops the workstation it serves. Whether your jib is stiff, noisy, drifting, has a hoist fault, or is simply due a service, Granada Cranes can find the cause and put it right. We support swing jib cranes of every type and make, from single workstation jibs to fleets across multiple sites.
Jib crane repairs for workshops and production lines.
A jib crane has three things that wear: the slewing mechanism it rotates on, the hoist and trolley that run along the arm, and the fixing that holds it to the floor or wall. Faults in any of them make the jib unsafe or unusable.
Granada Cranes repairs all three. We replace slew bearings, free seized rotation, repair or replace hoists and trolleys, correct arm alignment and check the foundation or wall fixing, so the jib goes back into safe, reliable service.
Common jib crane faults we repair.
Jib faults are easy to live with for too long. An arm that needs a shove to rotate, a hoist that lifts slowly, or a pillar that has started to rock are all warnings that something is wearing or loosening. Left alone they lead to damage, downtime or a failed inspection.
Where a repair is not the most practical option, we can advise whether a new hoist, a new jib or a change of mounting would give a safer and more cost-effective long-term result.
Planned jib crane servicing and maintenance.
Jib cranes are often the most used and least looked-after lifting equipment on a site. A planned service catches slew bearing wear, loosening fixings and hoist faults before they stop the jib or fail an inspection.
We service jibs on a schedule that suits how hard they work, as a standalone visit or as part of a wider crane maintenance contract covering every crane and hoist on your site.

Jib crane types we repair.
We repair and service every type of jib crane used in UK industry, from 80kg workstation jibs to slewing jibs of 5 tonnes and above.
Pillar-mounted jib repair
Free-standing jibs bolted to a foundation, slewing through 270 or 360 degrees. The most common repairs are worn slew bearings, loose or corroded base bolts, foundation movement and hoist faults. We also check the foundation itself where a pillar has started to rock.

Jibs fixed to a building column or wall, slewing through up to 180 degrees. Repairs centre on the top and bottom brackets, the fixings into the structure, the pivot bearings and the hoist. Cracked brackets and loosening anchors are the faults to catch early.

Two-arm articulated jibs and aluminium lightweight jibs used for precise workstation handling. Repairs cover the knuckle and pivot bearings, arm alignment, balancers and light chain hoists, and the controls that make them easy to move by hand.

A jib crane is lifting equipment under LOLER and needs a thorough examination by a competent person at least every 12 months. Servicing keeps the jib in good condition; the LOLER examination is the formal check that it is safe to use.
If your jib has been issued with defects at inspection, Granada Cranes carries out the repairs and re-tests it so the defect is closed and the jib is back in service.
Jib crane repairs for all makes and models.
As an independent crane specialist, Granada Cranes repairs jib cranes from every manufacturer, not just the ones we supplied. That matters for jibs, which are often bought from a catalogue years ago with no support behind them. We regularly work on jibs and jib hoists from:
…and many more, all makes & models
Where a jib is beyond economical repair, or the hoist on it is obsolete, we can fit a new hoist to the existing jib or supply a replacement from our swing jib crane range.
Jib crane repairs near you, wherever you are in the UK.
With 60+ engineers operating from our West Midlands and Chester bases, we repair and service jib cranes across the whole of the UK, as one-off visits or on a planned schedule through a maintenance contract. For a jib that has stopped mid-shift, our 24/7 emergency line is answered in person around the clock.
Why choose us for jib crane repairs and servicing?
A jib crane is a small piece of equipment with a big job. We treat it with the same engineering care as a 60 tonne overhead crane, because the load on the hook is just as real.
We make jib cranes as well as repair them
Granada designs and manufactures swing jib cranes from 80kg to 100 tonnes, so our engineers understand how slewing mechanisms, foundations and hoists are meant to work together.
Independent, all makes
We repair jibs and jib hoists from every manufacturer, including catalogue jibs with no manufacturer support left behind them.
Foundation to hook
We check the whole jib, not just the fault you reported: fixings, structure, slewing, hoist, controls and power supply.
Repair, replace or upgrade

Jib crane repair & servicing questions.
Yes. Granada Cranes is an independent crane specialist and repairs jib cranes and jib hoists from all manufacturers, whether we supplied them or not.
Usually, yes. A jib that is stiff or will not slew is most often a worn or seized slew bearing, a damaged rotation stop, or, on powered jibs, a slewing drive fault. We diagnose the cause on site and replace the bearing or drive where needed.
It depends on how hard it works. A jib in constant production use benefits from a service every 6 months alongside its LOLER examination; a lightly used workshop jib is typically serviced annually. LOLER thorough examination is required at least every 12 months regardless.
Yes. Fitting a new electric chain hoist and trolley to an existing jib is one of the most common jobs we do. We check the arm profile and capacity, supply the right hoist, fit it, load test it and issue the certificate.
Yes. A pillar jib that rocks, or a wall bracket with loosening anchors, is a structural fault and we treat it as one. We check bolt torque, the foundation or column condition and the bracket welds, and advise on repair or re-fixing.
No. Servicing keeps the jib in good working condition. A LOLER thorough examination is the formal inspection by a competent person that confirms it is safe to use, required at least every 12 months. We provide both, together or separately.
Yes. If your jib has been issued with defects, we carry out the repairs, load test the jib and provide the documentation to close the defect.
Almost certainly. With 60+ engineers working from bases in the West Midlands and Chester, Granada Cranes covers jib crane repairs and servicing across the whole of the UK, with a 24/7 emergency line for urgent breakdowns.
Often, yes. The steelwork on a jib lasts for decades; it is usually the slew bearing, hoist or fixings that wear. Replacing those is far cheaper than a new jib. Where the structure itself is damaged or the jib is undersized for the job, we will say so and quote a replacement.
