Electric Chain Hoists
The standard choice for jib cranes, workstation cranes, monorails and light overhead cranes. Compact, quick to fit, lowest cost.

Wire Rope Hoists

We specify it
Duty class, motor size, trolley type and controls, with a quotation and technical datasheet. Chain hoists are often from UK stock; wire rope hoists typically 6 to 8 weeks.
We fit it
Our own engineers install the hoist and trolley, connect power and controls, and integrate with the existing crane or the new build.
We test and certify
Functional and load test, LOLER thorough examination, full documentation and operator handover. Then 6 or 12-monthly inspections from there on.
Already have a hoist? We service every major make.

Electric chain hoists lift on a load chain and suit light to medium duty up to about 5 tonnes, with 10 tonnes possible on the largest models. Wire rope hoists lift on a steel rope wound on a drum, cover 1 to 80 tonnes, run at higher duty classes and give much longer lift heights, up to 60 metres as standard. For most jib and workstation cranes a chain hoist is right; for overhead and gantry cranes above 5 tonnes it is normally a wire rope hoist.

Yes. Many of the hoists we supply are replacements or upgrades fitted to an existing crane, jib or monorail. We check the beam profile, capacity and headroom, supply the right hoist and trolley, fit it, load test it and issue the LOLER certificate.

Yes. Our engineers service, repair and supply spares for all major makes found in UK industry, including Demag, Stahl, Konecranes, Verlinde, Street Crane, ABUS, Donati, Morris and Liftket, whether or not Granada supplied the hoist.
A hoist is lifting equipment under LOLER and needs a thorough examination by a competent person at least every 12 months, or every 6 months if it lifts people or is used with lifting accessories in certain conditions. The written scheme of examination for your site sets the exact interval. We carry out LOLER thorough examinations nationwide.
Standard electric chain hoists are often available from UK stock. Wire rope hoists from SWF and Omis are typically 6 to 8 weeks from order. Bespoke, high capacity or ATEX builds take longer. Spares are usually with you within 24 hours where stock allows.
Yes. ATEX-rated versions are available across all three hoist types for Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22, from the SWF EX range, Stahl, and bespoke Omis builds.
